MBSR Program

MBSR classes are designed to progressively build upon previous lessons, creating a structured, cumulative learning experience.  Each week introduces new mindfulness practices and concepts that deepen and expand on the skills developed in earlier sessions. This sequential structure ensures that participants gradually build a sustainable mindfulness practice, with each class reinforcing and expanding on the previous one.

  • Week 1 establishes foundational awareness through mindful eating and body scan meditation, helping participants cultivate present-moment attention.

  • Week 2 introduces formal sitting meditation, focusing on breath awareness and developing the ability to return to the present when the mind wanders.

  • Week 3 adds mindful yoga, integrating movement with awareness to strengthen the mind-body connection.

  • Week 4 explores the difference between reacting and responding to stress, introducing tools like the STOP technique.

  • Weeks 5–6 focus on emotional regulation and interpersonal communication, encouraging participants to turn toward difficult emotions and improve relationships through mindful presence.

  • The Silent Retreat Day (typically between weeks 6 and 7) allows for deepened practice in a distraction-free environment, reinforcing skills learned throughout the course.

  • Weeks 7–8 emphasize integrating mindfulness into daily life, including informal practices and strategies for maintaining long-term practice.

  • Required orientation (1-1.5 hours), held one to two weeks before your first class

  • 8 weekly classes 2-2.5 hours each

  • One 4 hour Retreat Day, held on a weekend, usually between weeks 6 and 7

  • Daily home practice, about 45-60 minutes a day

  • Initial one-on-one meeting with an instructor, with opportunities for feedback and support throughout the course

  • Access to the course website, featuring guided audio meditations and awareness exercises to support your home practice
